Privacy notice

The Charity Commission for England and Wales collects and processes personal information for the exercise of our public functions.

We are registered as a data controller with the Information Commissioner’s Office under registration number Z5640596. 

This Privacy Notice explains how we process your personal data when you use this website 

The purpose of the website is to recognise the positive contribution provided by trustees, focusing on learning and development to strengthen governance and how they help charities to thrive.

It is supplemented by our main privacy notice which provides further information and sets out some of your rights and entitlements in respect of that personal data. 

How we get the information and why we do we have it

To ensure we are able to achieve the desired engagement with you within the site we will process your personal data in the following ways

  • Any identifiable information you include in questions, queries or feedback you leave, including your name and email address if you contact us
  • Collecting information from you within the Event Submission form

The lawful basis we rely on to do this is:

Article 6.1(e) of the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UKGDPR) – the processing is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest or in the exercise of official authority vested in the controller.

  • details of which version of web browser you used (via cookies)
  • information on how you use the website, using cookies and page tagging techniques (via cookies)

Article 6.1(a) of the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UKGDPR) – the data subject has given consent to the processing of his or her personal data for one or more specific purposes

You will provide consent when you accept to the use of cookies when opening the microsite

What personal data will be processed

  • Names and email addresses when you contact us
  • Details associated to your website use through Google Analytics
  • Your IP address when you complete the Event Submission form

What we do with the information

If you email us through the contact us option. This personal data will be sent to an internal mailbox for review and response

We use Google Analytics to collect information about how you use our website and how the website performs during your visit. This is covered in our cookie policy.

We use SmartSurvey to supply the Event Submission form. They will capture your IP address when you complete the form. These are then anonymised when sending to us for loading on the website. The form also discourages the supply of unnecessary personal data.

How we store your information

Any personal data supplied when you contact us will be stored on a secure and restricted access mailbox. They will be deleted after 12 months.
